In January 2008, after 13 years In London, we decided we needed some adventure and followed Sarah’s job as an HIV research scientist which took us to Malawi (her PhD was in stem cell transplantation in leukaemaia at Hammersmith Hospital). Scarlett was born during the ride last year and there is a YouTube clip of the ‘Flies singing “Happy Birthday” to her at the top of L’Izoard. Why am I riding? I love riding, Leuka is a very worthy cause and I count many Fireflies as extremely close friends. The tenth anniversary makes it all the more reason to make the journey from Africa.
