I’m just a girl who can’t say no, I’m in a terrible stitch……….’I was invited to ride by Jake and Adrian and Nick in 2006.
I ride because I have encountered cancer in my family. My dad, very quickly was very sick and I witnessed the cruelty of the disease take over him. Losing my father in 2006 some 5 months before the flies set out on their 6th adventure, I was invited to ride in memory of him. I didn’t know what to expect but with the backing and generous donations from so many, I set off on this life changing experience. I come back for the simple goodness this event does for you. I’m scared about the challenge because I am not a cyclist. It hurts and it pushes you but I love the connections you make on the bike, with fellow riders, your environment and with yourself. Its invigorating and fulfilling. Today I climbed mountains and tomorrow I’ll do the same and soon you arrive in Cannes, smack back to reality. You remember the good times, you find clarity in only having to pedal, eat, drink and sleep for 8 days, you battle, you laugh, you cry, it’s raw and you remember those who have suffered and gone. That’s why I ride and that’s why you should donate.
