First heard about Fireflies when Nick asked me to help him online the Safety In Numbers film, missed 2005, but got onto the ride in 2006 – a vintage year. Clearly didn’t learn my lesson because I got back up and on for more in 2007. Then got married in 2008 to the most wonderful woman ever, and ride with the thought of seeing Anna at the finish line, and making up for missing her birthday yet again. Three years later, with the pain a distant memory, I’m back for the 10th anniversary. This year though our friend has been diagnosed with and is receiving treatment for Acute Myloid Leukamia, so she’s my moment-of-clarity mascot this time – Go Kellie!
It’s all about the people – the wonderful human beings who I ride with and those they ride for.
That and the silly haircuts.
